Nuestra #EmbajadoraChicasGuapas (The Style Manager) estuvo invitada a asistir a las emblemáticas carreras de caballos de Royal Ascot de Londres. En esta nota te contamos desde adentro cómo se vive una de las mayores tradiciones británicas.

Elegancia y “glamour” han rodeado este encuentro ecuestre en Inglaterra por mas de 300 años (sí, así de antiguo es!), y sus seguidores y asistentes de todo el mundo recurren a sus diseñadores favoritos para lucir el mejor sombrero, como Stephen Jones o Philip Treacy, creadores de tocados que tienen a Kate Middleton, Victoria Beckham o Lady Gaga entre sus clientes.

Una vez que obtuve mi invitación, comencé a planear mi outfit. Todas y cada una de las marcas o tiendas de departamentos en Londres tiene una sección especial para la ocasión, algunas de ellas tienen showrooms privados con las colecciones de edicion limitada y ofrecen servicio de personal shopping, para facilitar todo el proceso.

Al final del día, quieres estar acorde a las reglas, de otra manera podrían llamarte la atención los “guardias de estilo” que patrullan el evento! (Sí, existe una “policía de estilo” que monitorea la vestimenta). ¿Que pasaría si me cruzo a la Reina, o la Duquesa, o alguien de la familia real…? ¿Y si me invitaran a tomar el té?, ¿ó me llevaran a dar una vuelta en carruaje? Bueno, ok, me dejé llevar un poco…

• El evento de carreras mas famoso de Inglaterra, recibe aproximadamente mas de 300,000 visitas a lo largo de 5 días.
• La carrera que más dinero en premios ofrece en Inglaterra: £5.5 millones de Libras.
• Aproximadamente 400 helicópteros y 1,000 limousines llegan a Royal Ascot cada año.
• 247 boxes privados para VIP’s (entre jeques, celebridades y monarquía).
• Hay 70 personas de staff full-time, la cual incrementa a más de 6,000 durante los días del evento.

Se consumen:

• 51,000 botellas de champagne
• 42,000 botellas de vino
• 5,000 kilos de salmon
• 2,900 langostas
• 50,000 macarones

Inside the most exclusive event in London, for Chicas Guapas TV.

Coming from a culture where wearing hats is not a custom and most likely to be a rare occasion such as a costume party or summer carnival, when I knew I was going to the world renowned Royal Ascot horse races I was beyond excited.

Elegance and glamour has surrounded this equestrian event in England for more than 300 years (yup, that old), its worldwide followers and the attendees go to their favourite designers to pick the best hats, such as Stephen Jones or Philip Treacy, who have Kate Middleton, Victoria Beckham and Lady Gaga among their clients.

Once I got my ticket, I started planning the outfit. Every single fashion brand or department store in London has a dedicated section for the occasion, some of them have private viewing of limited edition collections and offer personal shopping experience, so the whole process becomes easier. The event is divided in three enclosures: Royal Enclosure, Queen Ann Enclosure and Windsor Enclosure, each one having their own strict dress codes, including length of dress, diameter of hats and recommended width of shoulder straps, etc. At the end of the day, you really want to stick to the rules, otherwise you can get called out by the “style guard” patrolling the enclosures! (yes, there is a “style police” monitoring the dress code). What if I was lucky enough to bump into the Queen, the Duchess or any of the royal family members?… What If I was invited for tea? or got a ride in their carriage? Ok, ok, I just got carried away…

For all this reasons above, Royal Ascot has helped tremendously the fashion industry in England, but this 5 day event is more than a reference for style and “see and to be seen”.
